LOGAN LANDFILL / GALLATIN COUNTY
Under general supervision of the Office Manager, this position is responsible for assisting in the implementation, promotion, and continued growth of the Gallatin Solid Waste Management District’s Waste Diversion Education Outreach program. This includes planning, scheduling, training, and overseeing the public relations component of the District’s various waste management programs, as well as, educational activities, special events and a variety of other duties assigned. Position is also responsible for providing customer service, cashiering, and monitoring through the facility’s scale houses and provides administrative and operational support to the Logan Landfill and the Bozeman Convenience Site. The position reports to the Office Manager and does not supervise other personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Access and Outlook) and specialized computer software (Facebook and WordPress); customer service; cashiering and bookkeeping; and office equipment operations. The position requires the ability to monitor and maintain safety protocols, work effectively under adverse site conditions, coordinate tasks and procedures with others and ability to organize, manage and control workflow of concurrent projects. The position requires strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills. Knowledge and experience related to recycling and solid waste management is preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The required knowledge, skills and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or associates degree with experience in business/public administration, communication, education, information technology, customer service or a related field or experience in the development, coordination or implementation of recycling/environmental compliance programs, including experience in educational outreach, source reduction, recycling promotion, general public relations and customer service.
Licenses and Certifications: Position must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the state of Montana or attain a Montana driver’s license within six months of hire and be insurable under the County’s liability policies.
As a condition of hire, the final candidate will be required to successfully pass a criminal history check and background investigation.
