Recycling Education Trunks
Our education trunks were introduced in January 2017 and are now available at community libraries throughout Gallatin County. To borrow a trunk, contact your local library or GSWMD at 406-582-2493 / patty.howard@gallatin.mt.gov
Participating libraries include: Three Forks Community Library, Manhattan Community Library, Belgrade Community Library, Big Sky Community Library, and Bozeman Public Library.
Trunks include the following materials:
- Binder with print resources
- Curricula: Grades K-4, Grades 5-8, Grades 9-12
- Activities
- Local waste diversion/recycling resources
- Guides for reducing waste
- CD-ROM with digital resources (inside binder)
- 100% recycled PET (#1 plastic) carpet sample
- 100% recycled t-shirt (plastic bottles) from ReThink Fabrics
- Plastic lumber sample – made from recycled plastic bags & sawdust
- Bale of aluminum cans (with gloves)
- Reusable produce bag made from recycled bottles (features the GSWMD logo)
- Plastic bottle pre-forms filled with:
- PET flake
- rPET pellet
- rPET fiberfill
- Glass cullet sample
- Finished compost sample
- Alternative Daily Cover sample
- Denim insulation sample (UltraTouch from Bonded Logic)
- 4.5 pound bag of rice
- Represents daily trash generation per person in the United States
