The Freecycle Network
Freecycle is a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It’s all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by local volunteers. Membership is free.

Montana Materials Exchange
Whether its pallets, packing peanuts, chemicals, construction materials, or something else entirely, the MME is a cost-saving alternative to disposing of surplus, used or leftover items, industrial by-products, or any other unwanted but usable material. It’s also an excellent low-cost way to find materials that you need.

Maintained by the Montana State University Extension Service, Pollution Prevention Program, in partnership with the Montana Chamber of Commerce, this free service connects businesses, government agencies and other organizations that have materials they need to get rid of with parties who can use them. By providing reuse opportunities for materials you would normally throw away, MME helps you prevent waste and reduce environmental impacts at the same time that you save on disposal costs.

Unites States Materials Marketplace
The United States Materials Marketplace is a project from the US Business Council for Sustainable Development, World Business Council for Sustainable Development, and Corporate Eco Forum to scale up business-to-business materials reuse across the US. This marketplace facilitates company-to-company industrial reuse opportunities that support the culture shift to a circular, closed-loop economy.

Recycle Montana
The purpose of this Corporation shall be to educate Montana citizens and businesses about waste reduction, offer statewide recycling resources, and provide support to community recycling efforts.

Don’t Waste Montana
Don’t Waste Montana provides the tools for rural communities to save money, conserve natural resources, and keep Montana beautiful for generations to come. The Don’t Waste Montana campaign was created to offer resources to help residents of Broadwater, Jefferson, and Lewis & Clark counties reduce consumption, find creative ways to reuse materials, and recycle what’s left over. The campaign is growing to include all of Montana’s communities.

Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)
The Montana DEQ regulates solid waste facilities in Montana, including community recycling activities. This includes municipal landfills, construction and demolition waste landfills, septic tank land application sites, motor vehicle recycling and recycling activities. These functions are achieved by technical reviews, licensing, certifications, compliance monitoring, training and technical assistance. Our goal is to assure that the environment is adequately protected from the hazards of waste disposal, and increasing recycling rates in Montana.
